At DiscoverSnoop, we operate the worldâs largest Discover monitoring network, analyzing feeds in 47 countries every day. Our data powers the decisions of over 320 media publishers worldwide â from independent voices to major media groups.
Thanks to this unique vantage point, our team has detected a new and highly limited test that Google appears to be running in the U.S.: the introduction of AI-generated Overviews within the Discover feed.

This early experiment is currently restricted to video content only. In the tested format, certain videos are now accompanied by an AI-generated description that appears directly above the video thumbnail. Initially, users see a 3-line preview of this summary. A âMoreâ button allows them to expand the full description, which typically spans around 10 lines.

At this point, AI Overviews have been observed exclusively in the United States, and only on a very small portion of the installed user base, suggesting Google is in the earliest phases of testing. No official communication has been made by Google regarding this feature, and itâs unclear whether it will be rolled out more broadly or permanently.
This move is consistent with Googleâs broader strategy of embedding generative AI into its core products â but its appearance in Discover is particularly noteworthy given the platformâs influence over mobile traffic and content visibility.
Should Google decide to expand this test, DiscoverSnoop is ready: our platform is fully equipped to integrate the detection of AI Overviews into the publisher dashboard, just as we currently track entities and other contextual signals. While these Overviews are not yet visible in the interface, our media partners will have access to this information as soon as the feature begins rolling out more widely.
As Discover continues to evolve, weâll remain your first source for real-time insights into how Googleâs ecosystem is changing â and what it means for your visibility and traffic.
