Dear DiscoverSnoop Users,

Happy New Year! Our entire team wishes you all the best for 2025—a pivotal year for your Google Discover audiences. In some countries, Discover already represents 80% of the traffic for certain publishers. With SEO traffic shrinking and social platforms reducing audience reach, 2025 may be the year of Discover or die—and we’re here to help!

We’ve launched our biggest product update since DiscoverSnoop began, packed with new features and enhancements. We rarely send long marketing emails, so we promise this is worth reading to see what’s new and how you can benefit.

1. Expanded Reporting: All Discover Content Blocks

At first glance, the Discover feed may look like a simple list of articles, but it’s actually made up of different types of blocks, each with its own rules. DiscoverSnoop now monitors and allows you to filter for:

  • Classic Articles (tracked since our launch)
  • Videos
  • Shorts
  • Web Stories
  • Headlines
  • Showcase

Each block has unique characteristics, and we explain them in detail here.

If you’re a subscriber, your default view for live pages or pages will filter for Classic Articles, but you can choose to view the entire feed or filter by individual block types using the content type dropdown as shown below. For free accounts, the default view shows all feed content, and filtering by Classic Articles requires a subscription.

In the Live pages and pages section, contents are now labbeled with their block types to help you identify them quickly.

Key insight: In the US, Classic Articles now make up only 50% of the feed. Videos are leading the way, and while YouTube dominates with 92% of video blocks, publishers with their own video sections still have opportunities to stand out. Videos, Web Stories, Headlines, and Showcase blocks present untapped potential—our account managers are ready to share successful strategies already working for other customers.

2. Entities Are Here!

As of January 10th, entities are live in DiscoverSnoop! Here’s what’s new:

  • Entities now appear for each article in the live pages and pages sections. Click on an entity and your current analysis will be filtered on this entity !
  • A new “Live Entities” menu shows trending entities (exportable, of course!).
  • The Historical Entities menu offers insights into entity performance over time.
  • Soon, entities will also be available on publisher detail pages, allowing you to see which entities are linked to specific publishers.

Why our entities are different:

  • We’re not relying on third-party APIs to generate entities. These are real Google entities, analyzed across all languages with the same high quality. Compare them to other products—you’ll notice the difference!
  • Discover success isn’t about entities alone—it’s about finding best-seller articles. DiscoverSnoop helps you identify high-performing articles worldwide, adapt them to your audience, and drive major traffic spikes.
  • Aside from Headlines blocks (a Google News walled-garden) and certain health and finance articles, most entities can be leveraged by all publishers.

3. Revamped Search Menu

DiscoverSnoop is a treasure trove of data, but we know this made navigation challenging for some users. Based on your feedback, we’ve revamped our search menu, splitting it into three sections:

  1. Live or historical data
  2. What you’re looking for
  3. Your search query

This redesign significantly improves search result quality. Try it out, and let us know what you think!

And One More Thing…

Our final rankings for December 2024 are here: the best publishers on Google Discover! We’re thrilled to see our customers dominating the top ranks, and we’re confident they’ll continue improving their audiences in 2025 with these new features.

As always, our small but responsive team is eager to hear your feedback. Let us know what you think about these updates—we’d love to hear from you!

Warm regards,
The DiscoverSnoop Team
